What is Stingless Bee?

Unlike normal bees, stingless bee or Meliponini are without sting. There are more than 500 species of stingless bees found in tropical and subtropical regions of the world and more than 50 species are found in Malaysia.

Stingless bees are also known as “Lebah Kelulut” by the locals. Due to smaller size as compare to other bees, stingless bees can sip nectar from deepest space in flower blossom and forage from inflorescence. Nectar harvested by stingless bees is rare, the nectar was collected and stored in a honey pot which is made from propolis. It contains elements which have high medicinal and nutritional value.

Stingless bee honey a.k.a Kelulut Honey was used traditionally by native and folks to cure common sicknesses and diseases. Therefore, it is known as Mother of Medicine for its richness natural medication and healing properties.
